Clearing is the UCAS process that helps students find university courses with available places. It’s available if you’re applying after the UCAS deadline, didn’t meet your offer conditions, or have changed your mind about where you’d like to study. Once a university confirms they’ll offer you a place through Clearing, you can add it to your UCAS application and, once it’s confirmed, start getting ready for university – including booking your student accommodation.

UCAS Clearing usually opens in early July and runs until mid-October, although most students use Clearing around A-level Results Day in August when universities confirm available places.
