Moving Into YourTRIBE This September?

Friday 18th July 2025

Here’s Everything You Need to Know

If you’re moving into student accommodation in Southwark, South Bermondsey or Deptford this September, welcome to YourTRIBE.

We know you’ve got a lot on your mind. What should you bring? How do you meet your flatmates? Who do you talk to if something breaks?

This guide covers everything you need to settle in smoothly, from packing tips to making friends. Whether you’re a first-year or returning student, a little prep goes a long way.

1. Set Up the YourTRIBE App Before You Arrive

Our exclusive resident app is your digital key to life at YourTRIBE. From logging maintenance issues to chatting with flatmates, booking events and getting parcel alerts, it’s all there.

Tip: Download the app before move-in day to save time.
Just search “YourTRIBE” on the App Store or Google Play. There’s also a QR code in your Welcome Guide.

2. What’s Already Included… And What to Pack

Your room is ready with all the basics, so don’t overpack.

  • Bed and mattress (with a brand-new mattress topper)
    • 3/4 beds in Southwark and South Bermondsey
    • 3/4 or full doubles in Deptford (check your booking for details)
  • Desk and chair
  • Wardrobe
  • Fridge/freezer
  • Cooking appliances
  • Kitchen and bedroom bins
  • Blackout blind

Important: Bedding isn’t provided. You’ll need a duvet, duvet cover, pillows, pillow cases and a fitted sheet to match your mattress size.

Essentials to Bring:

  • Bedding and towels
  • Small set of pots, pans, plates, cutlery and utensils
  • Toiletries
  • Hangers
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Storage boxes or vacuum bags
  • Decor like photos, fairy lights, cushions or a blanket

Laundry tip: Washing machines at Southwark and South Bermondsey have detergent built in. One less thing to carry.

3. Check In Like a Pro

You’ll get full check-in instructions before your move. Make sure you’re ready by:

  • Downloading and logging into the YourTRIBE app
  • Having your photo ID handy
  • Paying your rent instalment

The sooner you’re set up, the sooner you can start exploring.

4. Make the First Move with Flatmates

Moving in can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone — everyone’s in the same boat. Break the ice early:

  • Say hi or offer a cuppa
  • Host a flat dinner in the first week
  • Join a welcome event through the app — they’re free, fun, and a great way to meet people

5. Explore Your New Neighbourhood

Start making the area feel like home by getting your bearings:

  • Find the nearest supermarket, pharmacy, GP surgery and fire exits
  • Drop a pin on Google Maps for your building
  • Take a walk to check out cafés, parks and transport links
  • Visit the rooftop terrace — a resident favourite
  • Say hello to the on-site team — we’re here for anything you need

6. Get the Admin Done Early

Don’t leave the boring bits too late. Once you’re moved in:

7. Make It Feel Like Your Space

Your room should feel like home — a space that reflects you. Start with the simple stuff:

  • Make your bed (trust us, it helps)
  • Unpack your essentials
  • Add soft touches — cushions, fairy lights, plants or prints
  • Use under-bed boxes or shelf risers to keep things organised without clutter

Final Checklist Before Move-In Day

  • Pack smart and label boxes
  • Download and log into the YourTRIBE app
  • Read your Welcome Guide
  • Know your nearest supermarket
  • Reach out to the team if you have any questions
